Updated 1 November 2026 · 4 min read
In short
For a first stay on Phu Quoc, sleep on Long Beach (Bai Truong), near Duong Dong: sunsets, restaurants and the night market, a few minutes from the airport. Ong Lang, further north on the west coast, is quieter. The north of the island has big resorts near the Safari; the south has the best beaches and the Hon Thom cable car.
The areas at a glance
| Area | Best for | Strengths | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long Beach and Duong Dong | First stay | Sunset, restaurants, night market, close to the airport | Busiest, beach quality varies by spot |
| Ong Lang | Couples, calm | Small beaches, boutique hotels, nature | Fewer restaurants, scooter or Grab |
| North (Ganh Dau, Bai Dai) | Families, resorts | Big resorts, Safari and amusement parks | Far from town and the southern beaches |

- 4 to 5 nights, first stay: Long Beach, with a day in the south for Bai Sao and the islands.
- Romantic stay: a boutique hotel in Ong Lang.
- Families: a northern resort if the parks are on the plan, otherwise Long Beach.
